History of the Moorer Family
The Moorer Family starts its roots from Wilbert and Lelia Moorer who, married at an early age, was considered a graceful, but strong-willed, wise, but sweet and loving couple. From this union ten children were born: Ruby, James, Katherine, Armazie, Wilbert, Awilla, Jessie, Margaret, Claude and Pearl. They imparted on their children a very strong work ethic, teaching them the valuable lessons of hard work and earning money. They also instilled in them a strong religious foundation, teaching them to pray and how to put Jesus first in their lives.
Wilbert and Lelia Moorer anchored the Moorer Family on a strong foundation which is Jesus. As their children began to start families of their own, times and seasons changed, but the foundation remained the same. The ten children will forever hold fond, funny and inspiring memories of growing up as part of the Moorer clan, still holding on to the foundation laid within them. They often talked about the times they would be in the fields and they would “strike up a tune”. Although they had no music to sing to, they would sound like an entire choir with a full band. Through the ten children, Wilbert and Lelia Moorer live on today, through their discipline and teachings that have been passed down from generation to generation.
